Why should we hire you

After all, the whole interview process is about answering this question: Why should we hire you instead of one of the many other well-qualified applicants?  This question ends up being one of the tricky no matter how simple it may sound.

While answering this question, you need to proceed with caution.

After all, you are comparing yourself to other candidates and trying to set yourself apart from these unknown personas without seeming too boastful. You don’t want to risk derailing the interview process by talking too much and sounding like a show-off.

How to Answer “Why Should We Hire You?”

Your answer to this question should focus on them, not on you! You are the seller in this situation, not the buyer. So, you need to focus on the benefits (more than one!) to this buyer.

You never know what other candidates offer to the company. So you have to show that you have the key skills, talents, work experience, and professional achievements that are fundamental to getting great things done on this position.

Select five to seven of your strengths that correspond closely to the job requirements, and use these as the core for your answer regarding what distinguishes you as a candidate.

Apart from highlighting your skills and experience, show them your enthusiasm to prove you’ll have a positive attitude towards your tasks. But don’t go overboard—a wide smile will never substitute professional qualifications.
